03 — Benefits

Real Skin Benefits

Smoother, More Even Texture

Peels gently exfoliate the outer skin layer, speeding up natural cell turnover. This triggers your skin's own repair process, often revealing brighter, more even-toned skin with softer texture and fewer fine lines — sometimes after just one session.

Fades Spots & Pigmentation

By clearing away pigmented surface cells, peels can visibly fade sun spots, melasma, and old acne marks. For Indian skin tones, gentler peels like Glycolic are well-suited for this — paired with daily sunscreen to protect your results.

Softens Acne & Scarring

Salicylic and similar acids get into pores to calm breakouts, reduce oiliness, and clear congestion. With a series of sessions, many patients also see shallow acne scars soften — deeper scarring may need additional treatments alongside peels.

Our 6 Peels

Isometric shot of a glass jar of medium-brown TCA peel solution, lid resting beside it, with a clinical brush accented in terracotta.

TCA Peel

A medium-depth peel (15–35% strength) for deeper wrinkles, stubborn discoloration, and moderate scarring. Not usually a first peel — recovery runs 7–14 days, so we reserve it for patients ready for a stronger correction, spaced months apart.

Isometric shot of a glass jar of translucent white Glycolic peel solution, lid resting beside it, with a clinical brush accented in caramel-amber.

Glycolic Peel

A gentle AHA peel (10–30% strength) that smooths texture and brightens dullness with minimal downtime — just 1–3 days of mild flaking. A popular, well-studied starting point for first-time peel patients and everyday photodamage.

Isometric shot of a glass jar of cloudy white Salicylic peel solution, lid resting beside it, with a clinical brush accented in sage green.

Salicylic Peel

An oil-soluble BHA (20–30%) that gets deep into pores to calm active acne and fade post-acne marks. Gentle enough for darker skin tones, with only 2–5 days of light peeling — ideal for first-timers with breakouts.

Isometric shot of a glass jar of clear ArgiPeel solution with a faint white tint, lid resting beside it, with a clinical brush accented in dusty rose.

ArgiPeel

An ultra-gentle arginine and lactic acid peel with almost no downtime — just a short-lived glow, sometimes light flaking the next day. A great flash option before an event, or for sensitive, reactive skin.

Black Peel

A stronger peel combining black vinegar, jasmonic, and salicylic acids — formulated for stubborn active acne and post-acne dark marks, especially on darker skin tones. Recovery is a few days of flaking, similar to a strong Salicylic peel.

Yellow Peel (Inno Peel)

A retinoic-acid peel that goes deeper than Glycolic but stays gentler than TCA — treating pigmentation, acne marks, and early fine lines together. Expect up to a week of peeling, spaced every 3–6 months.

Peel Care Guide

Before Your Peel

  • Daily SPF 30+ for 1–4 weeks beforehand
  • Stop retinoids, acids, or strong exfoliants 3–7 days prior
  • Skip waxing or redness-prone treatments in the week before
  • Melasma patients may be prescribed a pre-peel brightening cream
  • Arrive with clean skin — no makeup or heavy creams

After Your Peel

  • Expect warmth and redness, like a moderate sunburn
  • Superficial peels flake over 2–4 days; medium peels over 7–14 days
  • Cool compresses and a recommended barrier ointment help soothe skin
  • Don't wash vigorously — just splash and pat dry
  • Never pick at flaking skin — let it shed naturally
  • Skip makeup until shedding completes (3–5 days light, ~1 week medium)
  • Stay fully out of the sun; take antiviral medication if prescribed

Long-Term Care

  • Daily SPF 30+, reapplied every 2–3 hours outdoors
  • Superficial peels (Glycolic/Salicylic/Argi) can repeat every 2–4 weeks

06 — FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which peel should I start with if I'm not sure what my skin needs?

If it's your first peel, we usually start gentle — a mild Glycolic, a lower-strength (15–20%) Salicylic, or an ArgiPeel. These target dullness, uneven tone, and mild acne with minimal downtime, letting us see how your skin responds. Indian skin generally does best starting superficial before considering anything stronger. Deeper peels like TCA are reserved for later, once we know your skin's history. Your consulting doctor will map out the right progression for you.

What actually happens during a chemical peel session?

Your skin is cleansed thoroughly, then the peel solution is applied and timed by acid type — Glycolic is neutralized after a set time, Salicylic forms a whitish "pseudofrost," and TCA is applied until an even frosting appears. Once the right endpoint is reached, it's neutralized and a soothing cream or cool compress follows. The whole appointment usually takes 10–15 minutes.

Does a chemical peel hurt, or are there side effects to expect?

You'll feel some stinging or burning during application, brief and manageable for most people. Afterward, skin looks and feels like a mild sunburn for a day or two, then flakes as it heals — normal, not a complication. Mild side effects can include itching or dryness. Indian skin carries a small risk of dark marks if sun exposure isn't avoided, and rarer side effects of stronger peels include infection or scarring. If you notice blistering or intense pain, contact us immediately, and flag anything unusual to your consulting doctor.

Is a chemical peel safe for Indian and darker skin tones?

Yes, when the peel and strength are chosen carefully. Indian skin generally responds well to superficial peels, and these are considered safe for Indian patients by expert guidelines. For medium or deeper peels, we're more conservative — priming the skin first, using gentler concentrations, and being strict about sun protection, since darker skin has a higher risk of dark marks if peels aren't managed well. Very deep peels are generally avoided for this reason. Your consulting doctor will tailor the exact approach to your tone and history.

Can I get a chemical peel if I have sensitive skin?

Yes — we'd simply choose a gentler formulation. The ArgiPeel combines arginine with mild lactic acid specifically to minimize irritation, and low-concentration Glycolic is another gentle option. We assess your sensitivity before any treatment and can patch-test if needed. Many sensitive-skin patients find these gentler peels cause almost no stinging, just a warm sensation. Your consulting doctor can confirm the gentlest fit for you in person.

How many sessions before I see visible results?

Many people notice some brightening after their first session, but the best results build up over a series of treatments — usually around 3–5 sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Medium-depth peels can achieve more in fewer sessions, often just 1–2, spaced months apart. We evaluate your skin after each peel and adjust the plan. Your consulting doctor will confirm the right number as treatment progresses.

How long do results last, and how often should I come back?

Chemical peels aren't a permanent fix — they work best with ongoing maintenance. Superficial peels are often repeated every 2–4 weeks initially, then every 1–3 months for upkeep. Medium peels like TCA or Yellow Peel last longer, so we typically suggest a follow-up every 6–12 months. Daily sun protection plays a big part in how long results actually last. Your consulting doctor will set the right rhythm for your goals.

What does recovery actually look like, day by day?

Days 1–2, skin is visibly red and may feel tight, similar to a sunburn. Around days 3–4, flaking begins — fine scales for lighter peels, thicker crusting for medium ones — and it's important not to pick at it. For superficial peels, most flaking clears by days 5–7; for deeper peels like TCA or Yellow Peel, it can continue through day 10–14. By the end of this window, skin generally looks noticeably smoother and brighter.

Will my skin get worse before it gets better?

Yes, temporarily, and that's completely normal. Right after treatment, skin can look and feel worse — like an accelerated sunburn — before it starts flaking off over the following days. That's the old, damaged layer shedding to reveal smoother skin underneath, usually visible within about a week. Discomfort typically peaks in the first 2–3 days and improves steadily from there.

How is an in-clinic peel different from at-home peel kits?

In-clinic peels use professional-strength formulas under medical supervision, with controlled timing and proper neutralization — which is what makes real, visible results possible. At-home kits use much milder acids for safety, so they offer only subtle improvement even with regular use. A clinic visit also includes proper prep and immediate aftercare, like soothing masks or LED therapy.

Can I combine a peel with other treatments, like Hydra Facial?

Often, yes, though timing matters. A Hydra Facial is gentler and more mechanical than a chemical peel, so we typically space the two out — a Hydra Facial one week, a peel the next — rather than doing both the same day. We wouldn't recommend a medium-depth peel right after another strong resurfacing treatment. Your consulting doctor will schedule complementary procedures based on how your skin is responding.

What should I avoid before and after my appointment?

Before: avoid waxing, laser hair removal, or heavy exfoliating treatments for about a week, and stop retinoids or other peels 3–5 days prior. Protect your skin from sunburn beforehand. After: avoid sun exposure entirely while healing, don't pick at peeling skin, and hold off on makeup or active skincare until peeling is complete, usually 3–5 days. Skip heavy exercise or sauna for 1–3 days, and check with your consulting doctor before resuming prescription topicals. See our full Peel Care Guide for more.

Can one peel address both acne scars and pigmentation, or do I need different ones?

Some peels address both at once. Medium peels like Yellow Peel or TCA can improve acne scarring and post-acne pigmentation together, while superficial peels like Glycolic or Salicylic also fade mild acne marks as they smooth skin. Deeper scarring — like ice-pick scars — often needs additional treatments like lasers or microneedling alongside peels. Your consulting doctor will match a peel to your primary concern and advise if a combination approach suits you better.

Does a chemical peel help with fine lines and signs of aging?

Yes. Peels stimulate collagen renewal and resurface the skin, which can soften fine lines and improve firmness over time. All peels offer some collagen benefit, but medium-depth options like TCA or Yellow Peel have a stronger effect on wrinkles than lighter peels. Peels work best on surface-level aging changes — for deeper wrinkles or sagging, your consulting doctor may suggest pairing peels with treatments like lasers or fillers.
