Curious what GFC results could realistically look like for your hair?
GFC stands for Growth Factor Concentrate. It builds on PRP hair treatment, using growth factors from your own blood to support weakened hair follicles.
Made From Your Own Blood
The PRP is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, with nothing synthetic added. That keeps the risk of an allergic reaction low.
Supports Thinning Hair and Hair Fall
Growth factors are delivered directly to the scalp, where they help support weakened follicles. Many people notice less hair fall first, with thicker-looking hair building over a course of sessions.
No Surgery, Minimal Downtime
There are no cuts or stitches. Most people go back to their day after a session, with some scalp tenderness or redness that usually settles within a few days.
How well GFC works depends mostly on how far your hair loss has progressed. Find the description closest to yours.
Stage 1
Early Thinning
In men: Slight recession at the temples, or more hair than usual on the pillow and in the shower.
In women: A slightly wider parting, or a ponytail that feels thinner than before.
Usually the best time to start GFC
Your follicles are still active, which is when PRP-based treatments tend to respond best.
Stage 2
Moderate Thinning
In men: Visible thinning at the crown or hairline, with the scalp starting to show through.
In women: A clearly wider parting, with the scalp visible under bright light.
GFC can still help
A full course is important at this stage, often alongside hair medication prescribed by your doctor.
Stage 3
Advanced Hair Loss
In men: Smooth, bald areas at the crown or the front.
In women: Large areas where the scalp is clearly visible.
GFC alone is usually not enough
GFC can support the hair you still have, and is often paired with a hair transplant for the bald areas. Dr. Sajida Ali performs hair transplants at Facetalks.
Hair fall can also come from stress, illness, nutrition, or thyroid issues. That is checked at your free consultation before any treatment is suggested.

Dr. Sajida Ali leads Facetalks Clinic and its clinical team. She is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a fellowship in facial plastic surgery, and she personally performs hair transplants at the clinic.
Your GFC sessions are carried out by her trained clinical team. Your free consultation is usually with our consulting team. If your hair loss is advanced, or whenever she is available, Dr. Sajida meets you herself.
Eat a proper meal and drink plenty of water on the day, since blood will be drawn.
Wash your hair beforehand and come with a clean scalp, free of oil, gel, or spray.
Anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin are usually avoided for about 2 days before. If a doctor has prescribed them, check with that doctor before stopping.
Cut down on smoking and alcohol for a few days before your session.
Tell us if you take blood thinners, have a bleeding or platelet disorder, a liver condition, a scalp infection, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After Your Session
Leave your scalp alone for the rest of the day. No hair wash, oil, gel, or spray until the next day, or as our team advises.
Skip the gym, swimming, saunas, steam, and heavy sweating for 48 hours.
Hold off on hair colour, straightening, and other chemical treatments for about 3 days.
If you need pain relief, paracetamol is generally preferred over anti-inflammatory painkillers.
Tenderness, redness, mild swelling, a tight feeling, or a mild headache are normal and usually settle within 2 to 5 days.
Contact us if you notice increasing pain, warmth, any discharge, or a fever.
Between Sessions
Sessions are usually spaced 21 to 30 days apart. Keeping to that rhythm matters.
On a package, come in about every 7 days for your LED light and anti-dandruff therapy.
Use a mild shampoo and keep your scalp clean.
Keep taking any hair medication your doctor has prescribed. GFC supports your follicles but does not treat the hormonal cause of pattern hair loss.
Some extra shedding in the first few weeks can happen and is usually temporary.
Take a photo in the same light each month. Hair changes slowly and is hard to judge day to day.
Have a question about preparing for your session or aftercare?
GFC stands for Growth Factor Concentrate. A small sample of your own blood is drawn and processed with a sealed, single-use kit to extract the PRP (platelet-rich plasma), the part of your blood that is rich in growth factors. This is injected into the scalp and followed with microneedling, with the aim of supporting weakened hair follicles, reducing hair fall, and improving hair thickness over a course of sessions. See the procedure step by step.
What is the difference between PRP and GFC hair treatment?
Both start with your own blood, and both use a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich part. Standard PRP hair treatment injects that as it is. GFC uses a purpose-made, single-use kit designed to concentrate the growth factors those platelets carry, so it is the stronger of the two and usually shows results sooner. We offer both at Facetalks. If you would rather start at a lower cost per session, PRP still gives real results, just more gradually. See our PRP hair treatment page for its cost and results.
What is the difference between GFC and Exo GFC?
Both follow the same procedure and use a sealed, single-use kit. With Exo GFC, the PRP goes through one extra filtration step before it is injected, which makes it the more refined of the two. Both are complete treatments in their own right. Compare them in our pricing section.
What is the success rate of GFC hair treatment?
GFC works well for most people with early to moderate thinning, and you can see the difference in our real before and after results. How much it helps you depends on the cause and stage of your hair loss, so instead of quoting a percentage, we tell you what to expect for your hair at your free consultation. See which stage you are at.
How many GFC sessions are required for hair loss?
We usually recommend 6 to 8 sessions, for both GFC and Exo GFC. The exact number depends on how your hair responds and is confirmed at your free consultation. See the session plan.
What is the gap between GFC sessions?
Sessions are typically taken 21 to 30 days apart. If you are on a package, your free LED light therapy and anti-dandruff therapy are usually scheduled about every 7 days in between.
When will I see GFC results? What about after 3 sessions?
Results build gradually. Many people start noticing less hair fall within the first one or two sessions. By sessions 3 to 4, hair tends to feel stronger with less breakage, and around sessions 5 to 6 new baby hairs often start to appear as thinning areas look thicker. A little extra shedding early on can happen and is usually temporary. See the full session-by-session timeline and our before and after results.
Is GFC hair treatment permanent?
GFC results last well with a little upkeep. GFC strengthens the hair you have, but it does not change the hormonal cause of pattern hair loss, so a maintenance session every 3 to 6 months after your main course helps hold your results. Your own maintenance plan is discussed at consultation.
Can I use minoxidil or other hair medicines along with GFC?
In most cases, yes, and the two tend to work better together. GFC does not address the hormonal side of pattern hair loss, so doctors commonly pair it with prescribed hair medication. Tell us what you are using at your consultation. Our care guide covers what to pause around each session.
Is GFC hair treatment painful?
The blood draw feels like a routine blood test. The scalp injections cause brief, pinprick-like discomfort that most people handle well, and some soreness where the scalp was treated is common and settles soon after. Tell our team if you are anxious about needles and we will talk you through your comfort options.
What are the side effects of GFC hair treatment? Is it safe?
GFC is a safe treatment. Because the PRP comes from your own blood, serious reactions are rare. The usual ones are scalp tenderness, redness, mild swelling, a tight feeling, or a mild headache, which typically settle within a few days. Some temporary shedding can also happen early on. It is generally not suitable if you have a low platelet count or bleeding disorder, take blood thinners, have an active scalp infection, or are pregnant. Full details are in our care guide.
Does GFC hair treatment work for both men and women?
Yes. GFC is used for pattern hair thinning in both men and women, and the procedure is the same. What matters more than gender is the cause and stage of your hair loss. Our stage guide describes each stage for both.
Can I take GFC after a hair transplant, or should I choose a transplant instead?
They do different jobs. GFC supports follicles that are still active, while a transplant moves hair into areas where follicles are no longer active. Some people also take GFC after a transplant to support their existing hair, when their surgeon advises it. Dr. Sajida Ali performs hair transplants at Facetalks, so we can tell you honestly which route suits you. Ask us about hair transplant.
What do I get with a GFC package?
A package means committing to a full course of sessions. You get a discounted per-session price, plus free LED light therapy, anti-dandruff therapy, and microneedling therapy. The LED and anti-dandruff sessions are not one-off extras. They are done regularly between your GFC sessions, based on what your hair and scalp need. See the package add-ons.
How much does GFC hair treatment cost in Bangalore?
At Facetalks, GFC hair treatment is ₹3,999 per session and Exo GFC is ₹4,999 per session, plus 5% GST, under our current offer. Package pricing is lower per session and is confirmed at your free consultation. See full pricing.
Do you offer GFC or PRP treatment for the face?
For skin, we offer a related treatment that uses PRP from your own blood with microneedling. See our Vampire Facial page for details.
